Working at Height (WAH) Awareness Training
HRDCorp Training Programme No. : 10001138658
Working at a height can be hazardous, depending on the circumstances and safety measures in place. Falls from heights are a common cause of workplace injuries and fatalities. Some of the factors that can increase the risk of falls include the height of the work surface, the condition and stability of the surface, the use of ladders or other elevated work platforms, and the presence of hazards such as power lines, unguarded edges, or slippery surfaces.
To mitigate the risks of working at height, it is important to follow appropriate safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment, such as harnesses, guardrails, and personal fall protection devices. Employers are responsible for ensuring that their workers are trained on the appropriate use of such equipment and that they are provided with the necessary protective gear to perform their work safely.
Section 15 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 clearly stipulates the responsibilities of an employer to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of his workers including the provision of information, instruction, and training in regard to preventing any accidents at the workplace.
Specifically, Regulation 12 of Factories and Machinery (Safety, Health, and Welfare) Regulations further stipulates that workers who are working at height of more than 3 meters should be provided with safety belts or ropes or any of the most practical fall arrest systems.
Nevertheless, providing all that necessary equipment is one thing, while giving the required information on how to use them is also vital. Therefore, working at height training is vital to these workers. Our training course is designed to meet the legal requirements as set by the authorities.
