Scaffolding Use and Operation Awareness Training
Scaffolding Awareness Training is a program designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely use and work on scaffolding structures.
Scaffolding remains one of the main pieces of equipment that is being used largely by the construction industry for workers to work at an elevated height. Due to its robustness and simple use, scaffolds can be erected to a height that is considered very hazardous to be working on.
Therefore, it is very common that fall from height incidents at the workplace is largely contributed by falling from working on the scaffold.
The training aims to raise awareness of the potential hazards associated with scaffolding and educate participants on best practices for setup, inspection, and use of scaffolding systems.

The training should cover but not be limited to the topics below:
- Overview of different types of scaffolding systems commonly used in construction and maintenance work.
- Familiarization with relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing the design, erection, and use of scaffolding structures.
- Identification and awareness of potential hazards associated with scaffolding, such as falls, collapsing structures, falling objects, unstable ground, and electrical hazards.
- Proper design and erection of scaffolding structures, including foundation requirements, bracing, and stability considerations.
- Guidelines for conducting thorough inspections of scaffolding before each use, including checking for damage, loose connections, missing components, and stability.
- Safe practices for accessing and exiting scaffolding, including the proper use of ladders, stair towers, and access gates.
- Use of personal fall protection systems, such as harnesses, lanyards, and guardrails, when working on scaffolding at heights.
- Understanding the importance of protecting dismantled scaffolding from unauthorized use or tampering.
