Basic Occupational First Aid, CPR & AED Training-Competency
The Guidelines on First Aid in the Workplace 2nd Edition 2004 was introduced as a measure to ensure injuries at the workplace are given proper early treatment. The guidelines provide information on the requirements for first aid provision in the workplace to ensure the safety and health of employees.
It also covers various aspects of first aid, such as the responsibilities of employers in providing first aid facilities and trained personnel, the types of first aid equipment and supplies that should be available in the workplace, and the training requirements for first aiders.
The guidelines also provide information on the management of first aid incidents, such as the reporting and recording of incidents, the assessment and treatment of injuries and illnesses, and the referral of cases to medical professionals when necessary.
Overall, the “Guidelines on First Aid in the Workplace 2nd Edition 2004” aim to provide a comprehensive guide for employers and employees on the provision of first aid in the workplace to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel.
As per the guidelines, we have designed two (2) days of comprehensive training that will emphasize the understanding of the pre-hospital emergency procedure that can be carried out immediately if there is any injury or sickness occurring in the workplace. This is a high hands-on training module that aims to increase the competency level of first aiders. Participants will explore the common cardiovascular and other body systems that are responsible for death in Malaysia
On top of that, participants will be taught to utilize advanced equipment such as basic airway adjuncts, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and tools for transporting the victims. The importance of defibrillation in reviving the victims will also be taught thus, familiarizing themselves with the defibrillator.
Similar to basic courses, they will also be taught in the triage process during Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) with a more comprehensive method including secondary triage. These sessions in addition to the standard first aid skills will enable them to be prepared in carrying out their role as competent First Aiders.
