An Effective Accident Investigation, Prevention and Reporting Training

HRDCorp Training Programme No. : 10001569282

Accident investigation is a crucial responsibility in ensuring a safe workplace. In Malaysia, under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and NADOPOD Regulations 2004, employers are legally required to report workplace accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisonings, and diseases to the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH/JKKP) promptly. Reporting is not only a compliance requirement but an essential step towards analysing causes and preventing future occurrences.

The Safety and Health Committee plays a vital role in this process. As part of its functions under the Safety and Health Committee Regulations 1996, the committee is responsible for reviewing incidents and accidents, identifying unsafe conditions or practices, and making recommendations to the employer for corrective actions. An effective committee supports accident investigations by bringing together employer and employee representatives to analyse findings collectively and drive safety improvements.

This comprehensive Accident Investigation Training program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to conduct effective investigations. Participants will learn how to systematically collect and analyse information, identify immediate and root causes, and develop corrective and preventive actions. The training also covers legal reporting requirements to DOSH/JKKP, ensuring compliance while fostering a proactive safety culture.

By understanding the principles and techniques of accident investigation, participants will be better prepared to create a safer work environment, minimise risks, and prevent repeat incidents. This training emphasises that accident investigation is not about assigning blame but about learning lessons and making workplaces safer for everyone. Together, by strengthening investigation capabilities and sharing lessons learned, we can foster a culture of safety and responsibility within our organisation.
